These 6 Dancers Prove Being Eliminated First on 'SYTYCD' Means Nothing

Photo credit: Amblin Entertainment. With Season 16 of So You Think You Can Dance in full swing, it's important to look to the voting rounds ahead. No one wants to be the first person to go home, but someone has to go home. It's a competition. Anyone who has ever participated in the show will tell you that winning doesn't guarantee success post-SYTYCD, and going home first doesn't deny you success in the dance industry. Remember, these contestants were chosen as the Top 20 or

My interviews for Dance Network will be coming soon, but I wanted to share with you the submissions that were under consideration for a nomination. There were a total of 66 submissions this year. Nominations and final voting are decided by a panel from the Choreography Peer Group. It is not decided by the entire voting body of the TV Academy. [Disclosure: I am a member of the Interactive

'So You Think You Can Dance' is Back in a Big Way

Reprinted from Dance Network. The preparations for Season 14 of So You Think You Can Dance are underway as the final auditions occurred in Los Angeles over the weekend. After two experimental seasons with Stage vs. Street and The Next Generation, longtime fans are thrilled that the show is getting back to basics. The level of competition is anything but basic. Dancers lined up around a full city block in downtown LA waiting for their turn on the Orpheum Theatre stage. This gr

That’s exactly what New York City Ballet principal Tiler Peck is orchestrating with The Music Center’s program, BalletNow, running July 28-30 in downtown L.A. The planning process wasn’t easy and it began about 18 months ago when The Music Center’s vice p

3 Things ‘SYTYCD’ Contestants Should Know In Season 14

Photo credit: Adam Rose/FOX Oh boy, this is a tough one. I’m trying to talk about The Academy on So You Think You Can Dance when I already know the Top 10. So in trying to be objective, I think it’s important to look at some themes that ran through the first episode of The Academy. It’s Tabitha of NappyTabs who said it best, “It’s Season 14, you have to have a little bit of everything.” This advice should be taken to heart, whether it’s NappyTabs, Travis Wall, Sonya Tayeh or

'SYTYCD' All-Star Comfort Fedoke Shares How Hard It Was To Pick Contestants

However, the 10-year-old’s rise this season has really been remarkable to watch. I kicked off the season with an interview with Nigel Lythgoe and he alluded to one All Star who picked the wrong contestant and thought he was just, “cute.” While Nigel never revealed the names to me, he mad
