'General Hospital' Invites Two New Choreographers to the Nurses Ball

Photo credit: General Hospital/YouTube. General Hospital's Nurses Ball celebrated its 25th year this week, which started in 1994 as a charity event built into the storyline to raise money for HIV/AIDS research. In addition to a red carpet and musical performances, there are also dancers incorporated into the numbers. After the show sadly lost longtime Nurses Ball choreographer Rick Pessagno in 2018, many dance fans were asking who created this year's numbers. ABC Publicity co

    2017 Emmys: Outstanding Choreography Submissions

Yesterday was the Choreography Reception for the 2017 Outstanding Choreography nominees. My interviews for Dance Network will be coming soon, but I wanted to share with you the submissions that were under consideration for a nomination. There were a total of 66 submissions this year. Nominations and final voting are decided by a panel from the Choreography Peer Group. It is not decided by the entire voting body of the TV Academy. [Disclosure: I am a member of the Interactive

It's Emmys Nominations Day! Here are your 2017 Emmy nominees from three shows: So You Think You Can Dance, Dancing With the Stars and The Real O'Neals. I will do more assessment in the next few days and hopefully answer the question: Why did [insert name] get nominated? 'SYTYCD' All-Star Comfort Fedoke Shares How Hard It Was To Pick Contestants

Every time Comfort Fedoke and I get together we give you a little bit of scoop that you might not have heard elsewhere. If you were paying attention in early February, we revealed that Comfort was an All-Star for Season 14 months before the actual reveal. Oops. In my latest episode of To The Pointe With Kristyn Burtt, we couldn't talk about the Top 10 contestants, but we gave you a behind-the-scenes look on how hard it was to pick this year. There were contestants a few of th

The Moment 'Dance Moms' Gianna Martello Knew Maddie Ziegler Was A Star

Photo credit: Ryan West Gianna Martello has been a steady presence on Lifetime's Dance Moms for the last five years. Longtime fans know she isn't getting into the fray between the moms and Abby Lee Miller. Instead, she's a steady and constant presence in the rehearsal studio for the young dancers. Martello spoke with Dance Dish about that epic rise to fame in 2011, when she knew Maddie Ziegler was a star and what she wants to do next after the series ends. More: 'La La Land'

A (Partial) Look Inside The Emmys Choreography Submissions

For the 2015-2016 Emmys year, there were 73 entries for the Choreography category. I wrote down as many as I could in five minutes or less while they played the video. Sometimes I wrote the names, sometimes I recognized the particular dances, but I am missing plenty of names, dances and shows. Once we get Mandy Moore's interview up on Dance Network, I will post it here because she gives us an inside look on how the process works from submissions to final voting. It was incred

    What You Missed At DancerPalooza

If you've seen the video ads online or taken a look at the line-up, you know that DancerPalooza is a huge annual dance event. From your favorite So You Think You Can Dance choreographers to those amazing commercial dance superstars, the yearly workshop has it all. Even though I only managed to visit DancerPalooza on the last day, I managed to spot Season 12 contestant, Moises Parra, taking Teddy Forance's class. It was also great to see Mandy Moore and Travis Wall do pieces t

What You Need To Know About Choreographer Fatima Robinson

Photo credit: Instagram/Fatima Robinson Last week, I talked about who I thought will win the Emmy for choreography — and I know it’s a bold prediction especially since the nominations haven’t even been announced. I tweeted about her yesterday, but another choreographer I want to put on your radar is Fatima Robinson. Fatima is legendary in the dance industry because she’s not only a choreographer, she’s a music video director who has worked with artists like Michael Jackson, T

Because I Think This Choreographer Will Win The Emmy This Year

Photo credit: Scott Kirkland/FOX On Wednesday night, 525 people gathered in the main theatre at the Paramount Pictures Studio lot to celebrate a fresh take on an iconic musical, Grease Live. The audience was comprised of Emmy and SAG Awards voters for nomination consideration. FOX is looking for multiple nominations for this particular live event and they took a “go big or go home” approach to wooing Emmys voters. Besides the panel with a close-up look at numbers like “Grease
